Description:

This programme will meet the sector demands and employer needs for a highly skilled and qualified children’s workforce. It will support those professionals working within the Early Years sector who require opportunities to continue to advance their professional careers. Children’s services is a diverse sector and the MA in Early Childhood Studies offers a specialist programme that will attract those employed in Early Years, foundation and primary sectors including: owner/ managers from the private, voluntary and independent sector, foundation and primary teaching. In addition, this programme will support the progression needs of those working in wider children’s services.

This programme is also available as a distance learning package.

The programme will provide a broad base of topic areas that will enable students to develop their ability to critically reflect and evaluate their own practice from an informed professional perspective. Students will study a suite of modules that focuses on the safeguarding and protection of children from the pressures and influences of modern day society. In addition, students will identify current influences that are shaping policy and informing practice locally, nationally and globally. The relationship between the politics of knowledge and the social constructions of teaching and learning maybe explored. It will also develop enhanced awareness of macro, micro and international contemporary issues in order to clarify and determine priorities for innovative and enterprising projects within early childhood.
