Assigned project areas will include the inspection and repair of various aircraft structure materials. Installing common fasteners in composite and metal structures. Forming, heat treating and fabricating metal structures and an introduction to brazing, gas and arc welding of steel, magnesium and titanium.

Chandler-Gilbert Community College’s Associates of Applied Science Degree in Aircraft Maintenance Technology is designed to prepare students for licensure as certified airframe, powerplant, or airframe and powerplant (A & P) technicians. The degree combines the technical aspects of the Certificate Programs with selected general studies courses in the areas of English, Math, Reading, Communications, Humanities and Physics.

CGCC Aircraft Maintenance Technology students are in high demand. During the last school year, 100% of those students interested in going directly into the work force were successfully placed in industry-related positions.

Employers seek applicants who are self-motivated, hard-working, enthusiastic and able to diagnose and solve complex mechanical problems. Through Vincennes University you can earn your Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Powerplant Certificate (FAA A&P) along with either an Associate of Applied Science Degree (A.A.S.) or Associate of Science (A.S.) in Aviation Maintenance Technology.

Courses consist of approximately 60% laboratory and 40% lecture instruction. Certification process starts at the end of the fourth semester and is divided into three parts: An FAA computerized exam in our certified computer testing center, an oral exam, and a practical (skills) exam all given by onsite FAA Designated Mechanic Examiners.

Oral and practical exams are provided at no additional cost and tuition is extremely affordable as Vincennes University is a state supported college costing thousands less than proprietary training programs. Once certified an A&P technician is allowed to perform inspection, maintenance, repairs, and overhauls to aircraft and their related systems.
