The Commercial Pilot Licence Program is usually conducted on both Cessna 152s and Cessna 172s. The Accelerated Flight Syllabus covers the 65 hrs required for the Commercial Pilot Licence, but to complete the total time requirements of 200 hrs, time building is required. Ground School is required, but candidates may elect to follow a supervised self-study program in lieu of attending the Commercial Pilot Ground School. GFT also offers a more comprehensive ground school and flight training program that closely resembles the ICPL. The hours listed below reflect the Transport Canada minimums.

Commercial Pilot is a diploma program. It provides the training you need to become a commercial pilot.

The program is offered as a partnership between SIAST and the Saskatchewan Aviation Council (SAC). You will start your training at a flying school where you will complete your Private Pilot Licence. You apply for admission to the program while training for your private licence. You will be accepted into the program when you meet all of the admission requirements.

You will then start Session 1 of the commercial pilot ground school program and upon successful completion, you will return to an SAC member flying school to complete the flying requirements. When you have successfully completed the ground school and flying requirements, you will receive your basic Commercial Pilot Licence.

Our guaranteed commercial course has an instructor fee of $995. Our flight instructors will work with you full time for five days giving you the training needed to become a commercial pilot in either single-engine land or helicopter. Our average student completes the course in 10 hours of flight time. Requirements: Airplane no less than 240 hours total time, Helicopter no less than 140 hours total time. At least a third class medical is required and the commercial pilot written exam must be passed prior to arrival. Aircraft rental, books, and addition fees not included.
