On 15 August 1990, in recognition of ISO/IEC 17025, Malaysia established the ‘Skim Akreditasi Makmal Malaysia?or SAMM to accredit laboratories. Accreditation of these laboratories would be by the Department of Standards Malaysia (DSM).

As testing and calibration data from accredited laboratories are internationally recognised and is vital in securing acceptance of the test results by the implementing countries, it is imperative that exporters take this into serious consideration.
