This twelve hour course complies with Government guidelines for childcarers who care for children in the absence of their parents. Existing registered childminders in England will be expected to have a valid first aid certificate once they have had their first inspection carried out by Ofsted. The guidelines state first aid training must be a minimum of twelve hours. Participants will be shown what must be included in a first aid kit for babies and children and resuscitation techniques using models of babies and children, participants therefore have the chance to practice on models of different age groups. The course also includes how to record accidents and incidents appropriately.
