Marine Engine Mechanic

Students enrolled in this apprenticeship program will attend three eight-week sections of in-school training.

The Marine Engine Mechanic curriculum has been developed in keeping with the prescribed Ministry of Training, Colleges &, Universities Workplace Support Services Branch. This in-school curriculum reflects the content necessary for appropriate progression through Phases I and II which are also common for the trade of Small Engine Mechanic. Phase III contains the speciality curriculum to complete the Marine Engine Mechanic program.

The continual introduction of innovative techniques and more complex equipment is resulting in increasing demands for service technicians who are not only skilled in the practical aspects of the trade, but who also have a sound theoretical knowledge of the testing, diagnosing, repair and servicing requirements. The curriculum has been developed to complement the on-the-job work experience of the Marine Mechanic apprentices.
