The Radiography program is designed to prepare individuals for employment as a radiographer. The primary role of a radiographer is to operate imaging equipment and perform technical procedures to produce x-ray studies for the diagnosis and treatment of injury and disease.

Professional competence requires radiographers to apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, positioning, radiographic techniques, patient care, and radiation protection to produce images of the body. The Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Medical Radiography program provides training in patient services using imaging modalities, as directed by physicians qualified to order and/or perform radiologic procedures. This is a lecture course designed to acquaint the dental assisting student with the history, ethics, infection control and principles of dental radiographic production, including exposure and processing radiographs, both manually and digitally. Radiographic interpretation, intraoral and extraoral photography, and the management of pediatric patients and patients with special needs are included.
