Mountain Bike Riding

When/How

Mountain Bike Riding can be conducted all year round. However, different venues are better suited to different times of the year. Tracks used are unique to First Track Adventures, incorporating both single track and 4wd tracks with lots of downhill! In addition to off road riding, First Track Adventures can conduct bike tours and school cycle programs incorporating skills sessions and bike safety and maintenance.

Womens Mountain Biking

Learn from patient, knowledgable instructors who will have you craving the joys of carving corners on dirt - come get your bike dirty! This five-week series starts with basic instruction and gradually progress through the skills that help you ride more challenging terrain. The first three evenings consist of skill building at the U of C and nearby single-track trails. Travel to Kananaskis Country for the last two rides.

Mountain Biking 101

Begin at the U of C campus with exercises to improve your body positioning, balance, shifting, braking, and control. End the day by practicing your newly acquired skills on a guided, single-track trail ride off campus. Bike fitting, equipment selection, and minor trailside repairs are also covered.

Mountain Biking Flow Series

This 5-week coaching series is open to mountain bikers who want to challenge and improve their technical riding skills on a new trail each week. In a fun, supportive atmosphere, learn how to generate more control, grip, and speed on challenging sections of trail, polishing the skills described in Mountain Biking 201. Participants will be divided into groups based on skill and experience. No make-up days�courses run rain or shine. Prerequisite: moderate cycling fitness, ability to ride 10km+ off road.

Focus on progression and fun by learning to negotiate the obstacles found on more technical mountain bike trails. Learn how to wheel lift, &,quot,manual&,quot,, and &,quot,bunny-hop&,quot,, as well as climbing and descending techniques for steeper terrain. Develop &,quot,bike/body separation&,quot, to tackle rough and loose terrain. Experience and ride a fun progression of purpose-built structures found on technical trails. We will finish with a single track ride off campus in the afternoon.

Great Alpine Bike Ride

After disembarking the train, students will jump straight onto their bikes at Wangaratta where they begin their journey along the Murray to Mountains Rail Trail. This journey will take them along the Ovens Valley to Bright. They then tackle Tawonga Gap on their way to the Kiewa Valley and the township of Mt. Beauty, finally ending up at Bogong Outdoor Education Centre. This cycle journey exposes students to the history and different uses of the Alpine Valleys. The journey is supported by a vehicle carrying all equipment.

Adventure Lifesigns offers cycling with SLMBA leaders and sessions from a few hours to a day. It is possible for groups to tailor make packages to suit their experience and needs, building upon skills over a period of time.

Adventure Lifesigns offers the opportunity for riders both new and experienced to develop their riding with assistance from some of the most professional riders around. Master classes are also available, these sessions can be developed to allow you to gain the most out of your riding.

Packages and sessions in trail blazing, or blasting downhill courses, can be fashioned. You won’t be disappointed!
