Using an ultra-compact paint set and small brushes, you can produce drawings that evoke a mood, a location, a day. Working in a bound volume, rather than on removable sheets of paper, creates a freedom to have a drawing not work out as well as you hoped, because the process is for you, not for the Louvre. Drawing is very different from photography. Spending the time to really see what is in front of you gives you a stronger memory of the location, the sunlight on your shoulder, the smell of coffee from the cafe where you are sitting, or the uncomfortable dig of a pointy rock on which you are perched.
