PADI Scuba Diving (Certificate)

Offered in partnership with Sea Colony Aqua Sports, Inc., all courses are taught by PADI course directors, PADI certified master instructor trainers or PADI assistant instructors.

Both WRS 501 Basic Scuba Diving and WRS 502 Advanced Open Water Scuba Diving are recreational diving courses as well as courses required for additional PADI certifications. For those two courses however, students must be at least 16 years old at the time of registration and must pass a swimming exam. All students must complete a medical questionnaire and liability waiver, including those in WRS 500 Discover Scuba Diving.

Following the introductory part of the program you should have earned your PADI certification in diving. With that in hand, progress further under the guidance of our Master instructors. Learn CPR and AED (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator). Become proficient in administering first aid in emergency situations. Develop your diving technique further both in a pool environment and in open water. Dives will occur over longer periods of time and will feature procedures for conducting an underwater rescue. Dives will be made over several days and when you have completed the course, you will have acquired skills to perform routine underwater work. Students are responsible for bringing their own equipment to class including dive mask, fins and snorkels.

I Tried Scuba - This is an introductory experience to try out scuba diving to see if you would like to take a complete scuba diving course. Often it will be held on one evening with a little classroom training before heading to the pool to try out the gear.

Junior Open Water Diver
Same as Open Water Diver course. Students 12-15 years of age can learn to scuba dive, but under the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. Upon completion of the courses, these students will be issued with a Junior Open Water Diver certification.

Open Water Diver
The SEI Diving Open Water Diver course is for individuals ages 12 and older. Learning to scuba dive is safe and affordable, and requires a modest amount of training. An entry-level certification course takes approximately 32 hours to complete. Classes may be available during day or evening times, and take from a couple of weekends to several weeks to complete. The Canadian Diving Amateur Association (CADA) has been promoting it’s “Learn-to-Dive?program in pools and diving clubs since 1976. The initial goal of the program, created by Don McGavern, was to introduce children and adults to the skills of diving as a sport and educate them in a correct and safe manner. So far, thousands of children and adults have been able to discover diving through the Learn-to-Dive program. To ensure that the program remains current, the revised program emphasizes having fun while diving and encourages the diver to follow logical progressions when learning new dives. The program also stresses dive safety.
