HD Digital Filmmaking for VFX

This course teaches the ground rules of shooting digital video footage. Lectures include the technical aspects of the DV format, equipment choices, and usage. Staging and lighting techniques will be extensively covered, along with technical explanations of the tripod, Steadicam, and sky crane usage. For the first five weeks of the course, students learn the essentials of DV camera operation, the technical side of video formats, and terminology. Once footage has been shot, the output methodology for different applications is discussed so that students can take their DV footage and integrate it into their final CG projects for the second half of the course.
