The Urban Training Hikes are a great way to get in some early season workouts to be prepared for great hiking or backpacking trips in the summer. Six Thursdays from late April through May.

The Easy Does It program is an eight-week hiking program for people looking to start or get back into a regular outdoor exercise program. Offered May-June.
The Fitness Builder hiking program is for people wanting to take their fitness to the next level. Eight weeks of progressively more difficult hiking will get you in shape for whatever plans you have. Offered May-June.

An introduction to backcountry wilderness hiking. Emphasis is placed on proper equipment choices and usage, development of solid navigation skills, food preparation, group travel, hazard management and environmental concerns. This is the first field trip of the year and offers a challenging and fun way to introduce students to each other and the amazing BC backcountry.

This course runs the full length of the semester. Students work
on the design and implementation of their Personal Activity
Plans by hiking locally during class time (seven to eight classes
over the 15‐week semester). Students also hit the hiking trails
of Morin Heights and the Morgan Arboretum. They learn how
to increase their nature awareness by identifying medicinal and
edible plants and trees and searching for the presence of
wildlife. This is a unique opportunity to get in shape and live a
wilderness experience. The course fee includes transportation,
trail fees and the expertise of a naturalist at the Arboretum.

Hike and Raft

These students will begin their journey at the top of Victoria’s water catchment and travel on foot across the Bogong High Plains and down to the Mitta Mitta River. In the historic Mount Wills area of the Glen Valley students will learn about their watercraft, which could be rafts, inflatable kayaks or river sleds, depending on river height. They then embark on the river component of their journey down the Mitta Mitta and follow part of the course the water takes on its trip to the ocean in South Australia.

Summits Walk

These adventurers will journey on foot to discover more of the Victorian Alps. They might choose to start their journey on the Bogong High Plains at an achievable pace, taking in what they can. Rocky summits like The Jaitmathangs, Mt Cope, Mt Nelse, Spion Kopje, heathlands, hearbfields, grasslands, snow gums and crystal streams. If they are willing they could journey down to cross the Big River before climbing up high to the top of Victoria, Mt Bogong at 1986m above sea level.
