This course covers the fundamentals of shipping dangerous goods by air according to the IATA regulations. Our 10 step approach encompasses all of the activities which must be addressed when preparing dangerous goods for shipment by air. This course has been updated to include recent changes to the regulations, using the latest edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations. The course is designed to help employers meet the requirements for training as specified in Section 1.5 of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and 49 CFR 172 Subpart H, including testing of participants. This course is designed to introduce beginners to safe boating habits and assist them to obtain a Victorian Recreational Marine Licence with or without a PWC (jet ski) endorsement.

Approved by Transport Safety Victoria (TSV), the course includes trip preparation, weather, engine checks, safety equipment, emergency procedures, hypothermia, man overboard procedures, distress signals, rescue, steering and sailing rules, buoyage system, navigation lights, sound and light signals and safe boat operations. Please obtain a copy of the (free) Victorian Recreational Boating Safety Handbook from either TSV, VicRoads or Lakes Entrance Campusto study before attending the training course.

Students are awarded a TSV certificate upon successful completion of the course, which must be presented to VicRoads to gain a Victorian Recreational Boat Licence (with or without a PWC endorsement) within 12 months of certificate issue. VicRoads charge a licence issue fee.

It is a legal requirement that all persons operating a VHF or MF/HF Marine Radio hold a Certificate of Proficiency. This includes recreational vessels as well as commercial operators.

SEAMEC offers Marine Radio Operator training to both Commercial and Recreational boat operators. Our training is conducted by qualified and experienced trainers so you can be assured you will receive quality training which is up-to-date.

At the completion of the course an examination will be conducted. This examination is administered by the Australian Maritime College on behalf of the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). Upon passing the exam, students will receive their MROCP licence in the mail.
